Yeah Yeah Yeahs | This Month’s Featured Band

Three cheers for Yeah Yeah Yeahs!
Erupting at the turn of the millenium during New York rock revival, Yeah Yeah Yeahs stood out from the waves of bands and shook the world with their fun rendition of rock, “arty rock”, described as a clash between art and garage punk rock. Fronting the band is the eccentric Karen O, famous for her outrageous stage antics and sexy howls, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner and lastly, drummer Brian Chase.

In 2003, the trio band crafted their first album, “Fever to Tell”, with hits such as “Y-Control”, “Date With The Night” and their infectious number, “Maps”. Yeah Yeah Yeahs garnered much attention when sales for the album skyrocketed in weeks with frequent plays on the airwaves and after several concerts where they supported popular bands such as The Strokes. Following up, their album “Show Your Bones” debuted at Number 11 in the US and earned them a Grammy nomination. By this time, Yeah Yeah Yeahs were headlining concerts and soon enough became a household name in the hearts of many indie music lovers.

The band had side projects in their free time, most notably Karen O’s works for the soundtrack of “Where The Wild Things Are”. In 2009,  their third album “It’s Blitz!” was released and every song on the album is a well-crafted masterpiece. It was the band’s most danceable album yet! Karen O brought studded leather jackets back in fashion when she donned it for the music video of “Zero”, the hit single of their much-acclaimed new album which made it to Number 9 on Rolling Stone‘s best songs of 2009.

Faster than you can say “Heads Will Roll”, concert tickets for their first concert in Singapore in 2010 were sold out within minutes, leaving many fans heartbroken! But fret not, LAMC Productions is bringing in Yeah Yeah Yeahs for Big Night Out festival, alongside other amazing bands such as Vampire Weekend and Band of Horses, this 30th January!
