WICKED – The Untold Story of The Witches of Oz
Put on your best gear everyone and head on down to catch the crème de la crème of theatre productions – WICKED. Dubbed as “one of the most successful shows in Broadway history” (New York Times), this spellbinding production has hit our sunny shores and created a storm.
Having missed this enchanting musical in Broadway during my trip to New York (tickets were sold out for two months!), the moment news has it that WICKED is set to cast a spell in Singapore, plans were made just so I can cross out one more item in my to-do list.
That evening, as I take a seat in the Grand Theater at Marina Bay Sands, with bated breath, I looked around in awe of the enormous mechanical dragon that hovers right above us – I was enchanted. As the curtain unfolds to mark the beginning of the show, I knew in an instant this would be one of the best musical productions I’ll ever live to see.
I wouldn’t want to spoil the show for you theater lovers, or for those who will be watching it in the next few weeks so let me give you a little low-down about this awesome show.
Long before Dorothy drops in to tap on her ruby red slippers, two girls meet in the Land of Oz. Elphaba, born with emerald-green skin is smart, fiery and misunderstood while Glinda is blonde, beautiful, ambitious and popular. WICKED tells the story of these two unlikely friends who grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
So if you have not already caught one of the best musicals in the history of Broadway (no, we’re not talking about Glee), hurry on down to get your dose of the brain, heart and courage of WICKED. Don’t say we didn’t warn you – be prepared to get blown away, almost literally.
