What is your story?
I only started to get serious about photography when one of my lecturers back in university threw my assignment back at me and told me it was the worst image he has ever seen. I got really mad and I just wanted to prove him wrong. But soon after, I realized that I really do enjoy photography and all the technicalities behind it. I didn’t stop since.
How long have you been doing photography?
I have been shooting for 6 years and commercially for 3 years.
To be a good and qualified photographer, does one need a professional certificate or academic study?
No. The best advice I can give is to go assist a photographer that you admire.
Have you thought about doing something else other than photography?
My first love will still be portraitures. But I kind of stumbled into fashion. Currently I have been doing a lot of beauty shoots. I guess that’s pretty much a good mixture of portraitures in a fashion way!
Is winning award important?
Awards may open up new doors for you, but just don’t get too suck in by it.
What inspires you?
Good conversations and people-watching always inspire me.
Which is more important; skills, talent or the camera?
Talent before equipment!
What is your advice for someone inspiring to be photographer?
Go assist, assist and assist more!
Which photographer do you admire?
My favorite photographer changes all the time. But I really do admire and look up to people who are really passionate about what they do; e.g. The dancers from Old School.
