Tokyo Bikes Breezes into Singapore
If you’re anything like me, you harbor a secret fantasy of riding a beautiful bike down the street (preferably with a bunch of delicately fluttering daisies sitting in the front basket), while the wind is blowing in your hair. Now, there’s reason to believe that you actually can.
Tokyo Bikes, creator of streamlined bicycles in an array of seriously tempting colors, has set up its first and only flagship boutique in Asia outside of Japan in Singapore. Started in 2002 in the old Tokyo suburb of Yanaka, it can now be seen in various other cities such as Sydney, London and Berlin.
Flanked by the other shops populating Haji Lane, from laidback eateries to modern clothing boutiques, Tokyo Bikes sits right at home and draws on its surroundings to create an extension of its philosophy – that life is always about the journey, not the destination. By navigating through streets and taking in the sights and sounds first hand, you feel closer to your environment, and commuting becomes fun again.
Not only are the bikes visually appealing, they are also designed especially for use in the city and for injecting an added sense of ease and carefree into your day-to-day-life. Incorporating these bike rides into your life will soon make you wonder why you didn’t decide to do this sooner.
