Terry’s Take | Fun with Your Socks On
When Terry meets Happy, the only word is FUN!
On September 23rd 2011, Terry Richardson gathered a crew of New York’s coolest to shoot under happy conditions. The campaign featured eleven up-and-coming talents, such as It girl- Ashley Smith, DJ Physical Therapy, Pro Skater Braydon Szafranski, Cross Dresser Mykki Blanco etc. As the cornerstone of ‘Terry’s Take’ campaign, the outcome was a series of portraits presenting Richardson’s perspective on Happy Socks.
Collaborating with Richardson was natural for the Happy Socks brand, with their long-term goal of being the number one fashion sock brand worldwide. Known for his iconic fashion photography, hip following of trendsetters and cultural influencers, and his personal cool factor, this campaign seek to create huge excitement for the brand and its customers.
Reflecting the Happy Socks brand and the featured subjects, a sock-inspired collection turned the legwear into pants, sweaters, tops, even bunny ears and a bow tie. “Happy Socks brand is all about playfulness and creativity, and Terry’s campaign- featuring apparel and accessories made from socks, shows that we can all have fun!”
Like the unconventional collaboration, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are used to allow fans to share the images in the same spirit of the Terry Richardson project. Even if you missed the imagery exhibition happening in Stockholm, we hope you get your hands on a limited edition Collector’s Deck of 12 postcards featuring images from the campaign.

Terry Richardson is an American photographer from New York City. Throughout his career, he has shot everyone from President Barack Obama to Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss. He is a major contributor to most of the leading magazines of the industry such as i-D, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and GQ. He has also shot numerous campaigns for brands such as H & M, Supreme, Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs.
