S/S ’11 COLOR RUSH
It was a crazy colour galore.
We recently held our inaugural fashion show, “COLOR RUSH”, showcasing our newest offerings for Spring/Summer ‘11. Featuring menswear label ALABELBY, and womenswear labels Kaal E. Suktae and doii paris; the show stayed true to its name and promised a flurry of colours in its outfits, steering clear of the usual monochromatic colours associative of fashion.
The event was held in conjunction with the official launch of our “YOU ARE LOVE!” photo series for ActuallyMAG, and also a preview into our “Project Nippon”.
Within the space, illustrious posters lined up against the wall, each portraying a different story behind their subtle and artistic fronts. YOU ARE LOVE! is a project aiming to raise awareness for several socially provocative topics, such as Child Abuse and Teen Pregnancy. You can read the first installation of the series, here.
By now, it is no secret that Japan is in dire straits and in need of all the help they can get. ACTUALLY is launching Project Nippon to help contribute to this cause. We have designed a special tote bag made of Tyvek – a material that combines the best characteristics of paper, film, and fabric in one – with the help of 4 artists who graciously contributed their individual artworks for the design of the bags.
The totes will be sold for $10 at ACTUALLY…, ActuallyActually and VERY Wooonderland from the 8th of April 2011. All proceeds from the sale of the bags will go into Mercy Relief’s Aid for Japan.
For crowd entertainment, we had the expressive dancer, Wei Cheng, burning up the dancefloor (or runway) and showing us how pathetic our “dancing” skills really are. On top of that, we had Mark Cheng behind the decks and dishing out the sounds, causing a few people to have their eyes rolled back throughout the event in augasm.
And what is a good event without the amazing people? Imagine looking through a view master that only has the coolest individuals appearing slide after slide; and this spectacle was observed at our event. Veteran TV host Najip Ali and the beautiful MTV VJ Holly Grabarek was spotted amongst the crowd.
Together with the sponsors from Marble Slab, Tiger Beer and Research in Motion, everyone had a roaring good time, especially the lucky winner who walked away with a Blackberry Bold 2 (!!!) from our lucky draw. It is okay. Relax. We are jealous too.
For now, we shall bid adieu till the next event. Perhaps it might come sooner than you think.
