Obedient Wives Club
Genre: Indie pop
Obedient Wives Club intends to fill the fuzzed out girl group indie pop void that is missing from the Singapore indie scene. Obedient Wives Club was conceived on the rooftop of a tapas bar and is fueled by guitarist Keith Tan’s almost unhealthy obsession with Phil Spector-inspired, fuzzy girl pop bands like Raveonettes, Dum Dum Girls and The Outs. By serendipity, newcomer YinQi Lee was brought in as vocalist, based on her penchant for polka dots, and a voice you’d want to make love to. Completing the lineup are Sulaiman Supian on bass and Lennat Mak on drums. In 2012, Cherie Ko, with her candy sweet guitar lines, strengthened the band as the second guitarist.
Why we love Obedient Wives Club: Once is simply not enough – you will find yourself putting the sophisticated yet nostalgic songs from their EP titled “Murder Kill Baby” on repeat!
