FrüFrü & Tigerlily
Made for: Women
FrüFrü & Tigerlily are Ginette Chittick, Jasmine Tuan and Cheryl Tan. Ginette, Lecturer & Programme Leader at Singapore’s LASALLE College of the Arts Fashion Communication Programme, also hosts an Indie Rock club night every Friday at Home Club and is bassist and frontwoman of shoegaze dreampop band Astreal. Jasmine, co-owner of cult boutique Blackmarket, is one half of VJ meister collective Achtung! Achtung!. Cheryl runs her own graphic and web agency “Make” which specializes in both print and web graphics.
Inspired by indie, Britpop, electro, and punk rock, these girls reflect these sonic vibes and incorporate the attitudes and the visceral imagery of these genres into their garments and accessories. Each individual FrüFrü & Tigerlily piece is labelled with a title, much like the titles of the songs these girls grew up to. Despite the lack of formal training as fashion designers, these girls thrive on being resourceful DIY ninjas, turning each collection into fun craft projects.
The hit to your wallet: From $249 for a cocktail dress to $490 for a leather shoulder bag
Why we love FrüFrü & Tigerlily:
With a collection titled “Like Wolves” and items labelled “Coughing Up Butterflies” and “Fiends and Knives”, we can’t help but be infected with the rockstar attitude that these girls were gunning for with their collections.
