Singapore Guide | Cafes – The Dispensary
One afternoon, amidst a stroll down one of Singapore’s pioneer housing estates, the masterminds behind The Dispensary stumbled upon an old abandoned Chinese Medical Hall. Once a thriving dispensary for residents seeking the expert advice of the master physician and Chinese remedies to cure their ailments, it now stood humbly in its quiet historical charm among its modernised neighbours.
Realising how people these days were so ready to embrace the new and discard the old without second thoughts of preserving their heritage, they saw an opportunity to revive the Chinese Medical Hall to its former glory. In line with their vision of preserving old traditions whilst moving ahead with the times, they transformed the Chinese Medical Hall into a café offering unassuming and healthy Western fare made with the flavour of personal touch.
The hit to your wallet: From $3 for cookies to $45 for whole cakes
Why we love The Dispensary: The Dispensary might be one of the newer kids on the block but their cupcakes sure don’t disappoint! “Nuts for Nutella” is a godsend for all the chocoholics out there – a scrumptious moist cupcake topped with Nutella flavoured cream!
