Profiling | Licia Florio
Licia Florio is an Italian Fashion Designer in Milan. Having studied fashion design at the Marangoni Institute, she started the line in the brave pursuit of trying out a new business, taking a bold step to set up a label this very competitive industry.
Her style is simple, elegant and feminine, but what ActuallyMAG wanted to know was the journey to her current standing in the fashion as well as the story behind this dynamic and bold character of a woman.
Why did you want to set up Licia Florio?
Licia Florio: I decided to produce my own label after graduating from school to show my idea of fashion. Made in Italy, Licia Florio is a womenswear made for contemporary women who likes to play, have fun mixing various accessories with dresses and looking elegantly at any events.I love to produce dresses which I want to dress in.
What are the challenges you face as a young and upcoming fashion designer?
LF: There are a lot of details you have to be aware of during the process: paper models, fabrics, suppliers, trade shows. You have to work hard every day and you learn something new you never faced upon before. Being very open minded is important; and you got you got to be strong when everything seem to became a mess, but you know it’s worth it every time a new collection is out!
What do you like to do for fun?
LF: I love to make research traveling around Europe. At home, I love to relax reading magazine, books and blogs. My ideal night is a dinner with friend with good food and good red vino.
How did L’F come about?
LF: My boyfriend, Francio Ferrari, and I decided to create a unisex label because we like to share our clothes. We would like to achieve a good mix and balance between feminine and masculine. Our first product is a re-interpretation of a classic man shoes, comes without laces and flap but with a lug sole. Our online shop will be coming soon in September!
What have you learned through the journey so far as a designer?
LF: I understand better the processes beyond the fashion system and meanwhile I’ve grown as a designer and a business woman too!
