People in the World | ANTOINE GOUIFFES-YAN
Bonjour monsieur. Today’s spotlight is on Antoine Gouiffes-Yan, a French Export Director. Woh woh woh keep it in your pants boys and girls. But we at ActuallyMAG understand your pain. Thus, we will be doing you a major favour. Read on and find out where the man hangs out in Town, where he shops, and what he considers “the best gift possible” for men. 😉
What city are you currently residing in? How long have you been living there?
Antoine: Paris, France. Since I was born back in 1977…
What is your occupation?
A: Export Director at Warner Music France.
What languages do you speak?
A: French, English and a little bit of Russian that I learnt when I was a student
Your mother tongue is?
A: French. But my parents are from the city of Concarneau in France-Brittany, up north-west of France. There, the local language is Breton. Only a few people still use it on a daily basis.
Music you listen to now?
A: Anggun’s upcoming album “Echoes”, and Agnes Obel‘s “Philharmonics”. Classy and elegant pop.
Your friends like you because…
A: Because I’m French 🙂 I think because they know they can always count on me no matter what. I sometimes have a bad temper but I am a reliable friend.
Your recommended hotels (in your city)?
A: Seven Hotel in Paris: weird, bizarre, edgy, unique, luxurious and very Parisian!
Your recommended restaurants (in your city)?
A: Café Marly in front of the Louvre’s Pyramid for the atmosphere, Impala Lounge near the Champs Elysées (cuisine of the world), and the best of all: Restaurant Maxan, rue de Miromesnil in Paris. Their awarded chef Laurent Zajac is a genius, mixing tradition with modernity. This is French cuisine in its simplest and purest form.
Your recommended café (in your city)?
A: Mariage Frères rue du Bourg Tibourg in Marais, Paris area. It is the best. It offers the best tea selection from all over the world, and also the best desserts in Paris in my opinion. Especially the ‘Coup de Soleil’ pie. Amazing.
Where is your hang out spot?
A: Café Etienne Marcel, rue Etienne Marcel in Paris.
Your city’s best kept secret (anything from places to food, or things the regular tourist wouldn’t know)?
A: This is for men only; or for women who really want to offer their men the best gift possible: a great barber experience at Alain Maître Barbier, rue Saint Claude in Paris. Tiny old-fashioned barber at a very small street in the heart of Paris. Amazing experience that takes you back to the early 20th century Paris.
Where do you like to shop (in your city)?
A: Grands Boulevards, where all the department stores are. I also like visiting the trendy, cool shops near the Paris city hall, and the streets around Rue des Francs-Bourgeois.
We should visit your city because…
A: It is the best place in the world to eat macarons; especially those from Pierre Hermé.
The last 3 cities you visited.
A: Bangkok, New York, Tel Aviv.
Which city you plan to visit next?
A: Hong Kong and Hamburg.
With the current community that you are in, how do you stand out from the crowd?
A: In my business, it is always about trying to catch the new trends before they break into the mainstream scene. Be an innovator; not a follower.
In your free time what do you like to do?
A: Attending exhibitions. If you have the time, go to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs near Le Louvre. There is an ongoing fantastic retrospective of fashion from the 90’s to the early 00’s. I was also impressed by the Bvlgari Exhibition at the Grand Palais a few weeks ago.
What is your fashion style?
A: Casual chic.
Your inspiration in life ( eg. live life to the fullest , or a quote)
A: “Everyday creates your HIStory” (Michael Jackson, from the HIStory album)
What phone (brand) are you using now
A: Blackberry. I know, very outdated…
Do you have a profile in any social network (facebook, myspace, linkedin etc)
A: Facebook. Antoine Gouiffes-Yan
I hate Twitter, useless.
Do you have your own blog ?
A: No. I’m not narcissistic enough 🙂
