Laneway Festival 2013 Featured Artist | Kings Of Convenience
Guess who’s coming back to Singapore to serenade us this time around for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2013? It’s the Norwegian folk pop duo, Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe, better known as Kings of Convenience.
Having played in Singapore twice before, in 2006 and 2010, this dynamic duo has stolen hearts of many indie girls around the world, especially Erlend Øye, who is more outstanding in terms of looks. Always spotting a cute and geeky appearance with his trademark large frame and thick lens glasses, he was always the favoured member of the band.
But little did you know, most of KoC’s songs were sung by the quiet and humble Eirik Glambek Bøe. However, Erlend Øye’s voice compliments the band’s subtle and intricate guitar sounds as well as Eirik’s calming voice.
Comparable to the American singer songwriter duo, Simon and Garfunkel, Kings of Convenience delivers the same vibe with a better and modern twist of indie melodies and lyrics that caters to the passionate youngsters these days.
Erlend was spotted in the crowd during St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Singapore earlier this year. Lurking in the crowd and being really friendly to the unsuspecting people at the festival, you can expect KoC’s set for Laneway Festival 2013 to be an intimate one.
You wouldn’t want to miss Kings of Convenience at next year’s Laneway Festival and unwind to their easy listening tunes with your friends and loved ones, that’s for sure.
