Insta-sensation | An Interview with Graphic Designer, Poonyporn Chatanon

Let’s broaden our search for talents beyond our small tiny shores shall we? If you’re a manic on your Iphone like we know you are, you probably have the Instagram application downloaded. We discovered Poonyporn Chatanon also known as S-poon (how cool is her name!) on this très magnifique app and we’re addicted. We predict you will be too!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m 21 years old and I come from Thailand. I’m currently studying Graphic Design in the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Bangkok University. I’m very interested in the various fields of art especially illustration, fashion, book design, crafts and photography.

Take us through a typical day in your life.

As soon as I’m done with classes for the day, I usually head to a lovely café for dinner to chill before going back home to the tons of work that I have to do. On days when I have more free time I usually go to a gallery, bookshop, watch a movie or spend the night with some craftwork.

Recommend us some cool haunts in your city.

The Jatujak market! Here you can get almost anything that you want!

Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows.

I’m a dreamer and a traveler.

How do you define yourself as a designer?

I aspire to create new things that make life wonderful.

What inspires your work?

I’m always very inspired by travels.

How much time do you devote to doing your creative stuff?

It usually depends on the amount of work that I have to do… If it’s illustrations I would create 1 to 2 a day.

Which of your design pieces is your favourite, and why?

My favourite are illustrations on fabrics because I simply love the combination of graphic and fashion.

Is there a designer/artist that you can relate to?

What’s the best thing about being an artist?

The best thing about being an artist is that I’m able to do what I love and that allows me to live my life to the fullest.

If you’re on Instagram, do follow S-poon @myteaspoon, or find her on Facebook.
