Haute Couture Week | Junko Shimada
Coming into fide, I conjure several imagery of couture i derived from years of admiring pieces from websites, magazines and other forms of media. En routé to the pavilion, I was completely marveled at how people took the effort to be undeniably well dressed and ultimately gel so well with the theme for the night.
One of the predominant highlight of the night was definitely having greeted by a medley of musical number by the mini orchestra at the entrance. That just evidently sets the mood for night. After having a glass of iced tea courtesy by twg, we were ushered the photographer’s booth and my company for the night jas, made sure we got a good spot. A snappy intro by utt and taya ensued before the first show commenced.
As an avid follower of japanese culture, i know i won’t be disappointed and it prevailed. an asian slyph opened the show clad in a white structure blazer paired with embellished pants with a turban and Aladdin-esque platform shoes, i immediately got the sense of this juxtaposition of east meets west put into play here.
Aside from east meets west i also felt that there was an evident persian vibe circulating in the air during the whole show. Junko, staying true to her spunky and rock roller self, she toyed with the idea of feminine and masculine but made complicated by new silhouttes and cut to the clothes and body. A couple of stand out pieces are like the red ensemble that best display the overall idea of junko’s collection where there is this subtle detail of organza but paired with garish feline like prints.
