Dan The Man – On The Cover of ActuallyMAG, Danny Lim
We look at people with impossibly long limbs and striking features like ethereal creatures from another planet. We hardly associate them as being models (unless you live in the fashion capitals of the world). As fashion week sheds its skin, we’ve got our eyes on more than just clothes – we’ve spotted the next new face. And an Asian one at that.
Just across the shores, Danny caught our eye with his chiseled and handsome features. In fact, as soon as we saw this face, we knew we had to get him over for a collaboration.
Transforming into serious ‘model mode’, Danny works seamlessly with renowned photographer, Alan Lim, founder of School of Photography. The theory is, if you put a talented photographer with perfect artistic direction and a model that is willing to try anything crazy (think jumping and falling on set), the results are just pure gold.
We’ve got the feeling that Danny is a model to watch and will definitely be the hot property that casting directors will be fighting over.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m 23 years old. I’m from Penang and I studied Graphic Design in Kuala Lumpur.. I am currently based in Kuala Lumpur. So far I have been modeling in Singapore, Jakarta and Malaysia. Hopefully I can keep going at it!
Where did you graduate from/in which area?
I graduated as a graphic design major from Limkokwing University.
Wow, a graphic designer! Do people ever get surprised when you tell them you model too?
Ermm, yes they do… Even you are surprised!
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I am very much into arts, fashion and music. I also love photography.
What’s your background in modeling? When did you get started?
I started modeling during college and I was the winner of the Ford Supermodels of the world competition in 2009 (Male Category – Malaysia).
Who are some of your favourite models/designers and why?
I think my favourite model would be Sean Opry, he is definitely the kind of model that I aspire to be – he looks great in both fashion and commercial. As for my favourite designer, I guess it would be Tom Ford because he is a multi-talented man and he has great taste in the arts.
How would you describe your personal style?
I find myself always putting on denim, comfortable basic plain T-shirts and my tan Red Wing 875 shoes.
How has modeling changed other aspects of your life?
Well, modeling helped me build up my confidence because I wasn’t a very well spoken person before.
Do you have any advice for other aspiring models?
Never stop trying and always be humble.
How was it like shooting/working with Alan Lim and the ActuallyMAG team?
It was really great, fast and professional. All the shots are amazing!
What’s your favourite picture in this set of photos?
It’s really tough to choose because all of them are really nice! If I had to choose, I would say the cover picture, it’s really cool.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I would really like to thank the ActuallyMAG team, Paul, Alan from SOP and Liyana for this amazing collaboration.
