Freitag was started by graphic designers Markus and Daniel Freitag who were looking for a water-repellent and multi-functional bag to hold their creative work. Inspired by the diverse traffic flow in Zurich, they started making use of used truck tarpaulins, bicycle inner tubes and car seat belts – which then led to the first Freitag bag. Freitag continues to be one of the leaders in the field of sustainable fashion, recycling 300 tonnes of tarpaulin annually and even using rainwater collected on the top of their production plant for washing. There are now over 5000 Freitag products available from bags to accessories – each one unique and made of a materials.
