Bangkok Has A New Muse
With a population of almost 10 million, an annual tourist arrival of over 15 million a year, and almost 300 hotels in its dense megalopolis, how does one open a new hotel in Bangkok and still stand out and be counted? Ask the Accor Group and they will proudly tell you of their latest pride and joy: Hotel Muse Bangkok.
This is truly a hotel like no other: unique in its concept, distinctive in its décor, independent in its spirit. It is here that you’ll find all things occidental, oriental and opulent. Inspired by the elegance of the 19th century French aesthetics and the refinement of Thai style of King Rama V era, it brings to life a hedonistic experience of a bygone era, when travel was a luxury but for the exclusive few.
The 174 rooms and suites come in six categories, each one inspired by Buddhist cosmology. Make your reservation for one of the six heavens, starting with Jatu, and ascending to Dowadeung, Yama, Dusit and Nimman, and ultimately to Paranim. At each level, guests can choose from a myriad of luxuries befitting the indulgences of the Dhevas.
Guests can further indulge in the guiltless pleasures of six distinctive foods and drink venues:
Medici Kitchen & Bar is an Italian Restaurant hidden in the underbelly of this hotel. The interior is reminiscent of a dark wine cellar but the food shines brightly in its quality and presentation. I’d expect its reservation list to grow very long, very soon.
Le Salon is tucked at the corner of the hotel lobby, and is a perfect spot for a quick meeting or afternoon tea, while the Wet Bar on the 19th floor is a relaxing place to quench your thirst after a session of sun tanning.
And then there is The Speakeasy, a sky bar located on the 24th and 25th floor. Here, heels and martinis mingle in what will soon be the new chic nightspot in town.
The Thais are renowned for their creativity. This hotel however, takes creativity a heavenly plane higher. The detailing is meticulous; the imagination is simply genius. In an era of simplicity and understatement, Hotel Muse Bangkok boldly went against the convention to deliver a hotel that truly reflects the spirit of this famous city: bold, spectacular, unique and did so with such conviction and panache.
For my money, it is THE most beautiful new hotel that has opened in Bangkok in recent years.
