People in the World | Rigel O. Larga

Meet Rigel. Rigel is one of those quiet teenagers who you can never quite figure out because… well, because he’s quiet. But just wait until you get close enough to him – you can’t get him to stop. Meanwhile, here’s a peek into what goes on in the mind of this secretly outgoing Filipino and learn more about what the Philippines has to offer!

Where do you live now and how long have you been living there?

I’m currently living in an apartment with my family in Quezon City, Philippines. But I’m originally from the province of Marinduque. We have a house there, but we’re currently living at the apartment because it’s nearer to school.

What and where are you currently studying at?

Currently taking up Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Sto. Tomas

What are the languages that you are able to speak?

English and Tagalog.

Describe your personality.

I am shy at first and I will never talk, not even a little. But when I get to know you, I swear I’m as talkative and loud as kids in kindergarten! Sarcasm is my defense and I joke a lot, which some of my friends find really hilarious. Sometimes, I feel really insecure about how I look, what everyone thinks of me and things like that. And I think I’m kind! Haha!

What kind of music are you listening to now?

I don’t actually have a specific type of music that I listen to everyday. My playlist is diverse with all types of genres of music, mostly consisting of ballad rocks.

Where should we stay on our visit to the Philippines?

There are lots of beautiful places to stay at in the Philippines, depending on what kind of environment you like and the purpose of your visit. If you like cityscape, you can stay in the various brilliant hotels around Manila, specifically Makati Shangri-La and Diamond Hotel. If you like the beaches, you can stay in Boracay where you can find the beautiful beaches like those in Bora Bora. If you like the cold, you can stay in Baguio. And if you like somewhere calm and peaceful, we have Palawan. There are so many places to settle in the Philippines when you’re down for a visit.

Share with us some awesome stores in the Philippines.

We have stores that promote Filipino culture found mostly in the provinces. They sell shirts made of pineapple leaves, bamboo grass slippers and a lot more. We also have fancy restaurants with delicious Filipino cuisines. And if you are up for malls, we have SM malls and Ayala malls.

What is the Philippine’s best kept secret?

We have so much oil compared to a lot of other countries. We are rich in copper and gold. And we never run out of fossil fuels because we use coconuts as a substitute. I once read that Philippines has the largest number of coconuts being exported to other countries.

We should visit your city because…

Visit the provinces instead. If you want to visit a city, go straight to Makati City. That city is the cleanest city in the Philippines.

What do you do in your free time?

During free time, I only do any of these three things: read book, surf the net or watch any movies, dramas or series that I find interesting.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

My fashion sense is a no-no for me. I am one of those below average teens who wears more shorts than jeans and a pair of vans. My shirts are simple.

What do you think is the most attractive quality in a person?

Humour has it all for me. When someone has a good sense of it, it makes him or her a lot more attractive. Talent comes next, followed by English grammar. I also like sarcastic people – they amuse me so much! Looks do matter too, although it’s not really that important.

What is your life motto?

Which would you choose; Android, blackberry or Iphone?

Android. It’s cooler.

What are some of your favourite Ipad applications?

Waze. It helps so much when I’m driving around unfamiliar places.

Do you have an account in any social media platforms?

Of course! I use Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Tumblr.
